Docker Street, Richmond
City Residence
This property was purchased by Domicile with a planning permit in place for a Neil Architecture designed home. Padarc undertook a significant redesign of the internal layout, including the addition of a habitable basement extending over the entire site. Interior layouts were provided by Padarc, with Domicile’s styling arm providing design input and materials, fixtures, and soft furnishing selections. Construction of the basement was physically and logistically challenging and further complicated by a fully integrated car stacker and an 8m long swimming pool sitting above. Highly detailed drawings were prepared by Padarc while Domicile provided key construction expertise. The resulting family home consists of ground level, open plan living and kitchen and dining spaces that extend seamlessly out to the pool courtyard. At basement level the rumpus, study and 3 generous bedrooms all enjoy access to natural light via two courtyards while circular “skylights” in the bathroom filter light through the base of the swimming pool above. At first floor level the master bedroom suite includes a sitting area and ensuite. A roof terrace is accessed via stairs off the first floor sitting area.
